A new beginning

This year is going to be different for me. I have to admit that for the past year, I have been resentful and frustrated. My boss was transferred last January and I was MAD! I had the most time on as far as seniority, so that meant that I would have to be "the boss" until another one showed up. After being angry and having a tantrum, I decided to journal about the experience.

I knew that the Lord was preparing me for something, I just didn't know what. And frankly, I wasn't interested. But during my Christian walk, I've learned that it's not about me ;-)

As I look back in my journal, I laugh and smile. I was so afraid to take the lead not knowing that I was capable all along. You and I both know that He does not give us more than we can handle and we tend to forget that while we're going through "it".

Now almost a year later and still no BOSS, I have learned my strengths and my weaknesses. He has shown me that He is near and always has been. I am great at being punctual, organized and supportive. I use to suck at delegating and telling it like it is. But through this journey, I have learned to lean on my staff and find a nice way to get people to do what they're supposed to.

The most important lesson that I learned was to start each day with prayer. Before I put on my "cop face" I pray for this Nation, the Command Staff that I work with; and I say work with, because GOD is my real boss - and I pray for my team and the community in which we serve.

I've been doing this job long enough to know that we can't solve all the crime, but with teamwork and our faith in GOD, we can make a small difference.

Keep me in prayer as I continue to dedicate my life to protect and serve!
Love, peace and blessings
