No fear of the Lord...

I am 46 years old and there are two things that I fear, My Lord and Savior and my momma. I have the unfortunate pleasure of reviewing crime stats every 24 hours. It reveals to me the number of juveniles arrested daily and the type of crime committed. I tell you one thing, my mom and I live at least 35 to 4o minutes apart and if she were to call me and tell me, (not ask, but tell me) to bring her "something" I'd be a little irritated and may even pout, but guess what? "I do it." Not only because she's my mom but because the Bible tells us so in an indirect way.

Today's youth are in fear of nothing. Most have sex with whoever, whenever. Most skip school, have tried drugs, know where to get a gun, drive without permits, have stolen on more than one occasion and even fight with Law Enforcement Officers. I didn't even make mention of the Violent Offenses that I've encountered.

If I haven't learned anything in my life's journey, I know one thing to be true. My fear of the Lord sustains me and keeps me on the path to "being my best self." Being humble, kind, polite, compassionate, forgiving, respectful, gentle and obedient may not be easy in this world we live in but the rewards are priceless.

Proverbs 10:27 The fear of the Lord prolongs days, but the years of the wicked will be shortened.
Proverbs 13:24 He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him promptly.
Proverbs 29:15 The rod and rebuke give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.
